Las tres hermanas

Synopsis

Las Tres Hermanas – a rollicking melodrama in four chapters is a contemporary version of Chekhov’s play, proposing a different way out for Olga, Masha and Irina. This free adaptation by transgender Brazilian playwright Leonarda Glück moves Chekhov’s characters into today’s Ibero-American social and cultural landscape, where they, in turn, shed submission and take on positions of decision-making and power. The conception of this dramatised reading carries a strong influence of Queer art, Almodóvar-style aesthetics and Brazilian Tropicalismo.
