Synopsis
Fronterizas is the third work in Mari Paula’s anthropophagic research. The final staging of a trilogy — Retrópica in 2017, Devórate in 2019 and Fronterizas in 2022 — that approaches the body as an anthropophagic and migrant experimentation.
Fronterizas is also an interdisciplinary action that connects Mari Paula’s lived experience with dance, with Carlos Molina’s lighting technologies, and with Jaime Peña’s sound technologies.
An autofictional work addressing themes such as struggle, exhaustion and the acceptance of failure. With a non-linear narrative structure, Fronterizas glimpses a future built from the broken fragments of the past. Its dramaturgical construction breaks with armour, with language, and with the performer’s body. A decolonial work, not because of its discourse, but because it stages a transworldly body that seeks to destabilise the logics of production.
