WORKSHOPS
Los Orificios
Los Orificios is a body research workshop created by Mari Paula from the Cuerpo-Filtro (Body-Filter) methodology, developed since 2019 during a creation process with Janet Novás. The practice grows out of research into the senses and into the body's capacity to receive, filter, transform and give back what it perceives.
Through movement, breath, voice and perception, the workshop activates the body’s orifices as gateways into and out of sensory experience. Eyes, ears, nose, mouth, skin and other spaces of perception become places to explore sensations, memories, impulses and ways of relating to the body and the surroundings.
It is not about learning a technique, but about developing a deeper awareness of the body as a space of perception, transformation and creation. The practice can take the form of a workshop, a mediation process, a community gathering or a professional laboratory, adapting to different audiences, ages and contexts.
Open to everyone and with no previous dance experience needed, Los Orificios takes on a special depth when working with bodies with a uterus and vagina, exploring the pelvis, the hips and the body’s centre in relation to memory, pleasure, creativity, strength and agency.
WORKSHOPS
Cuerpo Antropófago
Cuerpo Antropófago (Anthropophagic Body) is the first methodological research developed by Mari Paula and the origin of Cuerpo-Filtro and Los Orificios. It starts from contemporary dance and the cultural anthropophagy of Brazilian modernism, carrying into the body the idea of eating, digesting, appropriating and transforming what comes from the other.
The methodology understands the body as a space able to receive, appropriate, transform and give back experiences, languages, references and stimuli. The workshop invites participants to dance, sweat, experiment and enjoy, questioning learned ways of perceiving and producing movement and developing a critical and creative gaze on one’s own body.
Cuerpo Antropófago is aimed both at performing artists and professionals and at people with no previous experience, and can be adapted to different audiences, contexts and levels of experience. It is part of Mari Paula’s programme of mediation, training and audience development and has been delivered in cultural centres, creative spaces and festivals.
