Sector Management

Mari Paula’s track record in managing and coordinating the dance sector began in Brazil, where she worked in dance coordination at Casa Hoffmann – Centro de Estudos do Movimento in Curitiba, taking part in management, programming and professional development processes within the dance field. She was also co-founder of the cultural space Casa Selvática (Selvática Ações Artísticas), from which she went on to expand her practice towards building networks and contexts for creation.

In Cantabria, she took on the chairmanship of Movimiento en Red – Asociación de Profesionales de la Danza de Cantabria, working towards the cohesion, professionalisation and representation of the sector, as well as its dialogue with public institutions. From this position she drove forward projects, networks and initiatives aimed at strengthening the presence of dance in the region.

In 2022 she joined the leadership of FECED – Federación Estatal de Compañías y Empresas de Danza as vice-president, taking part in the coordination and representation of the dance sector at the national level.

Alongside this, she is co-founder and director of Las Vivas – Ibero-American Dance Platform, through which she builds collaborative networks between professionals, institutions and projects across different Ibero-American regions. The platform brings together creation, thinking, management and international cooperation, consolidating a transnational dimension to her sector work.

This track record is rounded out by her participation in expert committees, open calls and spaces of sector representation, both in Brazil and Spain, as well as in the Dance Sector Roundtable of the Consejo Cántabro de Cultura. Her work in sector management thus sits in a hybrid space between representation, institutional mediation, network-building, and the development of policies and contexts for dance.
