Porão

Porão explores the relationship between body, space, light and darkness, based on movement research developed with the cast of Balé Teatro Guaíra. The body appears as a latent presence within a hidden architecture, expanding and transforming across planes, densities and directions.
Year: 2011
Direction: Carmen Jorge · Marlon de Toledo
Movement research: Carmen Jorge · cast

Synopsis

Porão (Basement) investigates what remains hidden and which, when crossed by movement, light and darkness, takes on new contours.

Dematerialisation and density, the visible and the hidden, build a suspended space where bodies occupy and transform their surroundings. The research unfolds from the relationship between body, space, light and movement.

Je joue ma vie

Je Joue Ma Vie is a performance and video project based on surrealism and on the reflections of Antonin Artaud. It uses psychic automatism and the here and now as drivers of creation to explore a dance freed from logic and from static forms.
Year: 2014
Concept and general direction: Mari Paula

Synopsis

Drawing on surrealist texts, manifestos and works, Je Joue Ma Vie develops a creative process based on the absence of traditional logic. The body moves from automatism, letting gestures and thoughts escape from what fixes and defines them.

The proposal starts from the tension between spirit and matter raised by Artaud to build an experience in constant transformation, where movement does not seek to represent, but to become.

VIDEO DANCE AND ARCHITECTURE

Azahar

Azahar brings together video, dance and historical architecture to connect past and present through the scent of orange blossom. Two women move through the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo in Granada, in a bodily dialogue with the space and with the memories that smell can awaken.
Year: 2017
General direction: Mari Paula

Synopsis

The scent of orange blossom triggers memories and deep emotions. Through the body, video and architecture, Azahar proposes a non-linear experience of time in which past and present meet.

Granada, marked by centuries of cultural mixing, and the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo act as spaces of connection between memory, history and experience. Dance mediates between the outer space and what remains deepest in the body.
